This map shows the new routes and increased frequencies of the Tucson bus system during peak hours under our plan, all of which can be put in place as early as 2003.
The bus fleet will be increased by 50% from the existing 174 buses to a total of 260 buses. The blue and green lines show routes which will see their frequencies increased to a bus every 10 to 15 minutes; the purple and red lines show routes with frequencies increased to a bus every 20-30 minutes. New routes and extensions to the southeast and northwest sides are shown in thick dotted lines All local routes will have their hours extended from 5am-midnight, so that transit riders can go out at night without fear of missing the last bus home. Greatly expanded express bus service on new routes are also included. VanTran will have its service area expanded to cover all areas now covered by the bus system, including, for the first time, the southeast side; the fleet will be increased by 50%, and response time and dependability will increase accordingly.
